What are Wrinkle Relaxer or Anti-Wrinkle Injections?
It is one of the most popular anti-aging treatments. Also known as Neurotoxins or Neuromodulators, most commonly known as Botox. Neurotoxins such as Botox are FDA-approved medications used to treat dynamic lines which are formed by repetitive facial expressions. Treatment is very effective because it targets the underlying muscle responsible for folding and creasing the above skin that causes wrinkles and fine lines.
Treatment with Botox is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure. Neurotoxin is administered with a fine needle into the targeted muscle. The dosage is determined by size, strength of the muscle, and personal aesthetic goals. After treatment, you are left with a smooth more youthful appearance. Neurotoxins can also be used to prevent the formation of new lines and wrinkles.
Botox isn’t just for Women.

Your medical history, medications and supplements will be reviewed to ensure you are a suitable candidate for a safe and effective treatment. Your aesthetic concerns, goals and budget will be discussed resulting in an individualized treatment plan. Photos will be taken prior to treatment and two weeks after as needed.
The treatment area is prepped, and a fine needle is then used to inject into the treatment area. The procedure is relatively painless and takes only a short period of time to complete. You may experience some mild discomfort or a stinging sensation during the injection process, but this usually subsides quickly.

It is important to provide your healthcare provider with a comprehensive medical history, including allergies, previous aesthetic treatments, IM vitamin injections, IV micronutrient infusions, surgeries, and all medications including over-the-counter medications, herbal supplements/vitamins that you are currently taking. This information will be discussed prior to treatment. If you have questions or concerns about your health history or medications/supplements you are taking, please feel free to contact me prior to your visit via email (yarrowbeautyco@outlook.com).
Be mindful to avoid using retinoids or other topical products containing Vitamin A for a couple days prior to and a couple days after treatment. Stop taking Accutane for at least one week prior to treatment. As these products can increase sensitivity at injection site.
If you have a history of cold sores caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus-type 1, it is advised you start your regular regimen the day of treatment to prevent any outbreaks.
Treatment shouldn’t be done within two weeks before or after immunizations. This is because the injections can render each other less effective.
If you have a special event it is best to receive treatment at least two weeks to a month prior to allow for any bruising to heal, for results to “settle in and mature”, and to allow for any touch-ups to take place if needed.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, no treatments will be done at this time because the safety of Neurotoxins isn’t well established.
It is advised you eat before a treatment to help avoid lightheadedness or nausea, especially if you are prone to these symptoms.
There is minimal to no recovery period, however there are some post treatment recommendations to follow:
Stay upright for at least 4 hours.
Avoid rubbing or touching the injection site, wearing hats, excessive heat exposure, strenuous or vigorous activity, alcohol or non-prescribed blood thinning medications/supplements for at least 24 hours.
As with any injection, you may experience minimal pain, soreness, redness, bruising, very minor swelling at the injection site, and headache.
This is completely normal and should subside within a few hours to a few days. Arnica gel may be applied to injection site to accelerate healing and minimize bruising. Feel free to take Tylenol (unless otherwise indicated) to help with discomfort.
Be prepared that results are not immediate. Many patients start to see results within 3–5 days after their treatment, with full effects around 14 days. A follow-up appointment is scheduled two weeks after the treatment, for first-time patients, to ensure the desired results have been achieved and to take post treatment photos.
If you are seeking treatment before a special occasion, please schedule an appointment at least 2 weeks to a month before the occasion.
Duration is variable for each patient, clinical trials suggest an average of 3-4 months. Consistent treatments are important for maintaining your results. You are ready for a new treatment when you start to notice close to full muscle movement in the treated area.
Treatment with a Neurotoxin is generally considered to be safe, but like any medical treatment, it does carry some risks and potential side effects. As with any injection, you may experience some pain, soreness, redness, bruising, minor swelling at the injection site, headache, and heavy feeling in forehead. There is a rare risk that the injected medicine can migrate to non-targeted area causing an undesired affect.
Some more serious complications and side effects of treatment are droopy eyelid or eyebrows, crooked smile, allergic reactions, and eye problems like double vision, blurred vision, decreased eyesight, or dry eyes. However, in clinical studies the incidence of these side effects is very small, and all of these side effects will resolve with time as the effects of the product naturally wear off.
In very rare cases, Neurotoxins can cause more serious side effects such as difficulty breathing or swallowing. If you experience any of these symptoms, you must seek medical attention immediately.
Having an immunization (COVID, Influenza, etc.) 2 weeks or less prior to planned treatment.
Allergy to Botulinum Toxin type A.
Current active skin infection, Rash, Herpes Simplex 1 outbreak in the area to be treated.
Pregnancy, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
